Experimental Sample

This one-of-a-kind hand made resin piece features reduced details of the casting and large Rrrumbler wheels on the rear.
No definitive documentation as to the design intent has been found. The car was buried in Larry's Garage for over 40 years.

Experimental Sample

The body of the car is one piece, similar to an "approval" sample, however, it has much greater detail than the other "approval sample".

Comparison of Wheels

The wheels in front are capped and the rear wheels are adapted from the 1971-1973 Rrrumbler line. Thus the car appears to be from 1970 or later.

Suggestion Form from 1972

Although no definitive documentation has been found yet, some documentation discovered by Bruce Pascal that pertains to the
earliest stages of the development of the Hot Wheels product line included a "suggestion submittal" from a model shop employee
that shows several ideas for making more "flamboyant" styling without major redesign. One of the sketches of the suggested ideas recommends
"Souping Up" versions of existing cars by adding oversized wheels to the rear.

Experimental Sample

A speculative idea is that this particular car was an "approval sample" that was later "reworked" as a sample in support of the proposed suggestion.
Looking at the bottom of the car, there are indications of rework that support this contention.
