Casting : Custom AMX
The Hot Wheels Custom AMX is based on the sporty
1968 American Motors Corp.
AMX.
The
Custom AMX was a US-made casting. All cars have white interiors.
Most cars came with
the silver-painted US
bearing wheels while late production cars have the chromed cap-style
wheels.
The most difficult
colors to find are
salmon and antifreeze, neither of which are listed in most price
guides. All other available colors are relatively easy to
find. Cars painted in the late-run colors (hot
pink, magenta, light green and yellow) often have
capped wheels.
The very rare "Ed Shaver" AMX was a UK
exclusive. It has only been
found in blue, and was
packaged on the
1970 UK Racing Car Series cards. The blister pack contained an Ed
Shaver decal
sheet which is the only real difference
between the Ed
Shaver and a regular blue AMX.
