Discussion:

The Whip Creamer, designed by Paul Tam, was released in 1970 continuing the tradition of "in-house" designed concept cars started in 1969.

Whip Creamer

The two seater Whip Creamer features a the orange spinning turbine in the rear behind the cockpit.
The cockpit and power plant are both covered by a sliding transparent opening cover.

Whip Creamer

The body casting of the US and Hong Kong versions of the Whip Creamer are indistinguishable.
All Whip Creamers ride on cap-style wheels medium in front and large in the rear.

Whip Creamer : Front and Rear

Both the US or Hong Kong versions have flat black detail paint on the front and rear.

Whip Creamer Interior

The US version of the Whip Creamer features clear glass whereas the Hong Kong versions have blue-tinted glass.
The US interiors are darker than the HK black but white interiors can be found in both Hong Kong and US colored cars.

US vs. HK Base

The bases of the have no differences other than the text.

The exhaust port from the orange turbine is different on the prototype version.

Reproductions

In 1993 and 1994, Mattel reproduced 16 redline era castings, all made in China. They were sold in two lines: "25th Anniversary" and
"Vintage Series". Unfortunately for redline collectors, Mattel opted to print the original copyright date on the base of these
reproductions which has only caused confusion among the newer collectors and a source of great annoyance among seasoned collectors.

1993 Reproduction Whip Creamer

The reproduction of the Whip Creamer was released in the "Vintage Series" as well as other special editions
but there are many simple ways to differentiate the reproduction from the original.

* Hot Wheels logo tampoed on the car
* Through Hole reproduction redline wheels
* Made in China on the base
* "Vintage Series" logo on the base
