Discussion:

Issued only in 1972, the Snake and Mongoose Rear Engine dragsters utilize the same casting.
They are fashioned after the "Wedge" dragster raced by Don Prudhomme.

While Don "The Snake" Prudhomme did race a wedge-shaped red dragster in the 1971-72 racing season, Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen never raced the wedge body,
deciding instead to follow Don Garlits' simpler rear-engine dragster style (no wedge, just a big rear spoiler). Possibly, Tom felt that the added weight of the
wedge body was not worth the benefits of the downforce that made these dragsters somewhat popular back in 1971-72.

Late in 1971, Don Prudhomme ditched the wedge back end entirely and went with a dragster style that was similar to McEwan’s and Don "Big Daddy" Garlits.
