Comments:
The Double Vision was derived from the Hong Kong version of the 1970 Mantis casting.
1970 Mantis (US) vs. 1973 Double Vision
The principal change in the casting is the removal of the engine and exhaust pipes in the rear on most but not all Double Visions. Oddly, one
particular color, Foam Green is found with the Mantis style engine intact. All others have louvers cast into the body to close the openings where the engine came through.
1970 Mantis vs. 1973 Double Vision Bases
The base was modified to accommodate the changed to "through hole" style wheels, adding crush protectors in the rear and anti-rub "nibs" to the front and rear.
1973 Double Vision with Engine
The Foam Green version is more common with the engine intact. The base has the name change to "Double Vision" but lacks the wheel modifications.
